BMA is one of the most popular communities among Non-Resident Indians in the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the formation of the association there was only few Malayalee’s in the country. The decision of creating BMA was inspired by family get-together during weekends.
Mrs.Lata Johnson, who played a pivotal role in the formation of BMA by including all Malayalee’s in one roof. BMA established on 02nd Nov, 2002 in Oriental Restaurant. Only 19 members were there in the start-up phase. Among them they selected President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
We are represent our culture and organized different art forms of Kerala during the annual function day. This resulted in opportunity for public to aware about Kerala diverse forms of traditional cultural activities.
BAKU MALAYALEE ASSOCIATION (BMA) is coming up with 2nd event of this year – ONAM 2017 on 27th August, Sunday 10.30am onwards at BAKU ENTERTAINMENT CENTER, Khatai district, F. Bayramov Street, 1130/33, Baku.
We are presenting a rich and colorful variety of Indian classical dances and folks, to be performed by artists from Lakshya dance theatre, Dubai and the BMA members. Our cultural programs included Thiruvathira, Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Semi Classical Dances, Pulikali, Vallam Kali, Music, etc.
The most important part of ONAM is the THIRUVONA SADYA - a vegetarian feast with multi course meal served traditionally in a banana leaf.
The celebration is being performed with the support of Indian embassy in Azerbaijan. His Excellency Ambassador Sri Sanjay Rana has always been a great source of inspiration and support for all the BMA members and has brought positive energy to the community.
The celebration have multitude of cultural events, including many traditional art and dance forms of India by the artists of Lakshya Theatre group, Dubai.
